About Anita:
I began taking yoga in college as a requirement in 1991, and have been in love with it ever since. I was completing a degree in psychology at the time, and wanted to pursue my career as a psycho-therapist. After discovering yoga, I knew this was a passion I wanted to pursue. After completing my degree in psychology, I began my formal yoga practice in Iyengar tradition in 2000, and continued for the following 10 years. In 2005, I traveled to India and did 200 hours of formal yoga training in Renuka Ji, located in the Himalayas. It was there I studied Bhakti yoga and explored different Vedas and Sutras. In 2006, I graduated from the 200 hour certification from the Yoga Teacher Training Institute of Long Island. For the past 5 years, I have been teaching in various yoga studios in Long Island. Every year I travel to India to enhance my knowledge of yoga and all it encompasses, this being the birthplace of yoga. I enjoy teaching all styles of yoga, mainly Anysara based, Iyengar inspired, Vinyasa flow, Restorative gentle flow, and Deep Meditation. To me yoga is a way of life, it has transformed my life and become a passion of mine. I want people to experience this and touch the lives of others through this life altering practice. This tradition, centuries old is becoming adopted into western society along with all the benefits. I would love to be a part of this movement and hope everyone incorporates this wonderful practice into their daily lives.

Anita teaches a very intense flow yoga class with us Sundays 10 am at Yoga Oasis.
